Mr. W.F.Coutts, 8, Ord Street,

ABERDEEN.

31st July 1934.

Dear Sir,

Hong Kong Shing Mun Valley Waterworks.

We have heard through Messrs. Henderson that our

Resident Engineer has an opening for a cableway driver, and

will accept you if the Crown Agents are agreeable.

Kindly let us have the following information:-

Age; married or single; family, if any -

presumably, in view of the fact that the engagement will

be for 3 years as against the normal 5 years, you would

not expect to receive other than your own passage;

experience full detailed statement.

J

The appointment would carry pay at the rate of

£500 per annum; half pay on voyage; quarters on work or,

whilst these may not be available, an allowance of $100

per month in lieu and $25 per month transport allowance.

Whilst we have no idea whether the fact that

you have become an American citizen will affect the

prospects of your being acceptable to the Crown Agents,

you should mention the circumstances in which this change

took place and whether there is any likelihood of your

reverting to your native status.

Yours faithfully,

Binnie, Deacon & Gourley.
